Cinema: Alpha & Omega
The first venue in Italy to host continuous cinematographic projections (March 1896) reopens only for three days to revive the magic of its origins. Next to historic documents of the Salone Margherita and films of those days from Naples, a video installation dedicated to the extremes of cinematographic art: the panoramic views of the Lumière brothers (1895) and the re-visions of contemporary directors (1995); Méliès' first tricks and the magic of Welles; the famous stairs of the Battleship Potëmkin with the homage of the video artist Rybczynski and the dissacration of Fantozzi; the films of surrealism and the masters of avantguard animation (Quay Bros and Jan Svankmajer); a duel of comedy (Keaton versus Belushi), erotic bodies (Riefenstahl versus De Palma), decadent bodies (Visconti versus Ciprì and Maresco); the preview of an experimental video by Maggie Cardelus.

Dean Tavoularis. A myth from Hollywood An exhibition-event: sketches, designs, artworks of this designer that has created many well-known films such as Zabriskie Point, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now. For the first time these drawings, that have been the origin of many extraordinary films in the past 50 years, are presented in public. All of them have been created by one single artist, Dean Tavoularis, authentic magician of scenic reconstructions and special effects. The sketches of this exhibition come from the Zoetrope Studios of Coppola and from the personal archives of Dean Tavoularis, and have been arranged by Eleni Mustaira and Lena Argiris.

Three grand nights to celebrate cinema in all its beauty. Writers, artists and personalities from the arts recount the films of their lives: a movie of words. Masters and international movie stars in personalized interviews and exclusive performances: the myth and fairy-tale of cinema with Lucia Bosé, Aurore Clément, Isabelle Huppert. The final with musicians and artists from the international hot spots of culture who re-score masterpieces of cinema: Art Zoyd on Lang, DJ Spooky, Stewart Copeland in preview and Massimo Cavallaro & band on Terra che brucia (documentaries Panaria Film from the ’40). The Don Quixotes of the big screen retold and chanted by Lucio Dalla with Davide Rondoni and Marco Alemanno.
